Questions about tuina and foot work

Which should I book first, foot work or tuina?

Most people start with a 45 minute foot session, or an hour of tuina if their back and shoulders are what they carry. If you are unsure, call us and we will help you choose.

What is tuina?

Tuina is a Chinese hands-on tradition. We knead, roll and press along the muscles and around the joints, with our hands and forearms, through loose clothing or over a sheet.

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is steady thumb pressure along the sole, heel and toes. It is a relaxing kind of bodywork, and we do not use it to diagnose or treat anything.

Do I need to undress?

No. For foot work you keep your clothes on and we roll your pants to the knee. For tuina you wear loose clothes, or lie under a sheet if you prefer.

What if the pressure is too much?

Say so at any time and we will go lighter. We ask how firm you like it before we start, and again when we change areas.

Can I come straight from my shift?

Yes. We open at 7am on weekdays and stay open until 9pm, and a uniform is fine. Take your shoes off at the door and we will start from there.

Which languages do you speak?

Ling and Wah both speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Tell us which you prefer when you book, or on the day, and we will use it.

Can two of us come at the same time?

Yes. There are two tables in one room, so a couple, a parent and a grown child, or two coworkers can book the same time with one therapist each.

Do you see teenagers?

Teens 14 and older are welcome when a parent or guardian books and stays in the room.

Do I need to ask my doctor first?

If you are pregnant, have had recent surgery or an injury, or are under a doctor's care for something that affects your feet or how you move, please ask your doctor before you book and tell your therapist at the start.

Where do I park?

On Hamakua Drive or in the lot beside the studio.

How do I know the price?

The booking page shows the price of the length you pick before you confirm. If you call, we tell you the number before we book it.

Still wondering?

Call us or send a message, and we will answer in plain words.
